Love & Other returns to release the fifth installment in the ongoing series of label samplers on February 19th, featuring a selection of bass explosions, tech-house tearways, and nu-retro constructions. This glorious sampler features original hits from DE$iGNATED, Jade Blue, Thee Cool Cats, LiTek, Ryan Blyth, Howson’s Groove, Kloks & South Royston along with a remixes from Volac & Austin Welsh.
Kicking off the sampler DE$iGNATED featuring Ayah Marar ‘Begging For You’ seems like a statement of intent for this compilation; creative, modern house that honors its heritage. Up next Volac remix Rachel K Collier’s ‘Moth’ taking the original to the underground with a killer club cut. Jade Blue is a firm Love & Other favorite, she graces the compilation with the chuggy and bass heavy ‘How To See’. Thee Cool Cats have impressed with a string of solid releases in the last few years and their charming classic house shuffler ‘Fight The Vice’ is no different. Another relative newcomer LiTek brings dance floor friendly sounds with ‘1,2 Step’, presenting skills far beyond his producing years.
Off the back of a recent signing Danny Howard’s ‘Nothing Else Matters’ imprint, the hotly tipped Ryan Blyth offers a roiling bass-heavy giant that will devastate dance floors. Austin Welsh hits the spot with his intricate remix of Greco’s ‘House Party’ equally as anthemic as the original counterpart, followed on by Howson’s Groove’s slow-burning deep house number ‘Waiting Game’.
As the playlist winds down, it’s back to cinematic soundscapes with with a wonderfully nostalgic track from the highly talented Kloks with ‘Spire (Dub Mix)’. Rounding up the sweep South Royston provide the weaponry with 7 minutes of sub pressure, their amply titled late night roller ‘Some Girl’.
